Picnic in the Park 2016

Posted on Jul 1, 2016 by in Uncategorized |

Join us for Picnic in the Park...a relaxing afternoon celebrating our beautiful park and friendly community on Sunday 10th July, 1-5pm in Grangewood Park.

Volunteers... it can't happen without you so if you can spare and hour or two please let us know.

Bake Off...Art in the Park...Kickstars....Forest School....Tennis....Bouncy castle....Raffle....Mural workshop...Story-telling...Music....Bug Hunts....Basketball....and for our four-legged friends and their humans, the DOG SHOW!

The Picnic in the Park Bake Off was a huge success with plenty of cake maker keen to get their hands on the trophy!

Thanks to everyone who entered and then kindly donated the cakes to be sold to raise funds for future activities organised by The Friends.

Our well deserved winner was Yashika Jagwant-Singh with a cake which wouldn't have looked out of place on the real life Bake Off.

Thanks to our judge Masterchef Maria Vidal who found judging extremely difficult given the high standard of entries.

Second was Jacqueline Ackroyd and third Chris Clements.

Other entries included a spiced apple bundt cake baked by local MP Steve Reed.

The refreshment stand was very popular and it was great to be able to sample the winning cakes as well as the many other tasty cakes that had entered.

Thanks to all those who volunteered and gave their time especially to musicians Roland and Sue Gianstefani who stepped in at the last minute.

We had some great activities throughout the day and plenty of people looked as though they were enjoying picnics.
